Amelie looked down at the letters one more time before she burned them. These were the letters of Robert and her, and she resented them. She hated them. He was just a selfish fool now, off with Ariea or what ever her name was. She picked up the first one and looked down at it…
Dear Amelie my Sweet,
It seems many months that we have been apart, yet it has only been a number of days. I love you with all my heart and not a day goes by where I miss you. I wish we could live together. But we cannot. I count the days until I can propose marrige to you. Tell me, won't you, if you love me as I love you? I know there is nothing that can seperate us for good, even if it feels like it.
Aerie said the next party will be a good one. She said there will be an illusionist from London, all the more for us to slip away and talk. I have something very important to tell you, but I fear this letter will be intercepted, so I cannot tell you here. But it does have something to do with our future. Marie and Jaques laugh every time I start to think about you and our future life, but I just tell them to be quiet. But I know Marie and Jaques feel the same way about eachother as I know you and I feel about eachother. In time they will realize their feelings for eachother, and we will just laugh from the wings of the theatre you will sing in. Sweet, I know you will one day go to the Opera Populaire. You will become the lead Soprano and I will be there in your dressing room to love you and hand you roses. Oh Sweet, I will always behold you dear.
For now my dear Amelie Sweet,
Robert
